In the field of mobile communication from 1980 to 2022, 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G technology developed respectively. In the beginning, through 1G technology, consumers were provided the facility to talk only through mobile. The 1G technology, along with the size of the mobile phone, the background interference was also high. After some time, 2G technology was developed in which the facility of short messaging along with voice call was provided to the consumers. Since the arrival of Reliance Jio in the telecom market, the company has been making new records every day. In this episode, Reliance Jio can become the country’s first 5G service provider jio network 5g. For this, the company is in talks with some vendors for devices to be used in Jio 5G in India.
Talking about the data speed in 5G network, its data rate will be from 1 Gbps to 20 Gbps where 20 Gbps is its peak data rate. This speed will be much higher than the current speed, due to which even big data can be downloaded very fast, meaning 3 hours of movie can be downloaded in 4 seconds in 5G. 5G will be implemented on Millimeter Waves which is the frequency between 3 to 300 GHz to transfer data over the network.
What is 5G?
5G or the fifth generation is the latest upgrade in the long-term evolution (LTE) of mobile broadband networks. The first generation of network basically allowed only mobile voicecalls, while in the second generation or 2G networks allowed only mobile voice calls as well as short text messages also allowed to send.
Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani announced that the company’s telecom venture has been designed and developed from Jio Sketch, a fully indigenous 5G that is ready for expansion. In an announcement made at the company’s annual general meeting, Jio to enable export of 5G devices to other telcos globally.
Jio 5G Supported Cities in India:
Jio has recently bought 5G bands for all over 22 circles. Therefore, it would not be wrong to say that they will introduce its 5G service in all these 22 cities. According to a report, the company’s 5G services will firstly start in 9 cities . Including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jamnagar. Other cities like Pune, Chandigarh, Gurugram and Gandhinagar may be included in these after soon. Apart from this, Jio has already completed 5G coverage planning in more than 1000 cities.
Where does India stand on 5G expansion?
Both telecom service providers and their equipment vendors have completed 5G network equipment laboratory tests, but are yet to begin field trials, which were initially scheduled to take place last year. For this, telcos await allocation of trial spectrum from the Department of Telecommunications (DOT). The service providers also tied up with equipment makers like Nokia, Ericsson etc. to expand their 5G network.
Jio has sought spectrum in fixed frequencies from the Department of Telecommunications to test the latest 5G technology. The company’s wholly owned US-based subsidiary Radisys has already started selling the 5G solutions to foreign companies.
